Microsoft Outlook 97 must be updated with Service Release 1 (SR-1) to function properly with modern email servers and features. Please look at to download this update.

To set up your Microsoft Outlook 97 client to work with Izoox email using the POP3 protocol (default method):

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook 97.
  2. Click Tools from the menu bar and select Services.
  3. Note: If Internet E-mail is not available in the list of services click Add... In the pop-up box select Internet E-mail and click OK.
  4. Select Internet E-mail from the list and click Properties.
  5. Click the General tab.
    • Under the Mail Account section, Name the Connection using your full email address.
    • Under the User Information section, enter your Name and full Email Address.
  6. Click the Servers tab.
    • Under the Server Information section, enter your domain's mail server (typically mail.{your domain name}) for both Outgoing Mail and Incoming Mail.
    • Under the Login Information section, click the Logon Using option and enter your full email address for the Account Name and then your Password.
  7. Click the Advanced tab.
    • Under the Server Port Numbers section, verify Outgoing Mail is set to 25. If your ISP blocks port 25 set this to 587 otherwise leave 25 as the default.
    • Verify Incoming Mail is set to 110.
    • Verify the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) options are not checked.
    • Click OK.
  8. Click OK on the pop-up explaining that your changes will take effect when you restart Outlook.
  9. Click OK to close the Services window.
  10. Restart Microsoft Outlook 97.
